PONDer
Maintaining water quality has been a domain of both significant importance and requirement over the past few years. Despite the constant efforts of various organizations, the problem has not yet been solved to the grassroot level. With PONDer, it is possible!
About
With deteriorating water quality, life underwater is being affected significantly. Water bodies ranging from small freshwater lakes and ponds to rivers are the main zones of fish culture in India. Fisheries themselves are a huge part of the Indian economy. Evidence suggests that it is soon to be a dwindling source of the economy if the water quality is not regularly monitored. This is the domain PONDer focuses on. With simple water quality monitoring, both the water quality and the domain of fish culture are maintained.
Project
This project works on fabricating a device that gives a correct indication of the level of water pollution based on significant parameters such as pH, temperature and conductivity will help understand the quality of local water bodies. This device will not only indicate the water quality but it will provide structured data on the fish that can be bred and the vegetation that can be grown in a particular water body. Hence monitoring water quality can be performed by people in a more localized and effective way.
PONDer is along the lines of the United Nations' sustainability goals.
What do the numbers say?
Recent statistics from the economic times suggests the importance of maintaining good water quality and puts PONDer's ideas to greater significance
